a photographer & Many Cameras
From the moment I held my first camera in fifth grade, I fell in love with photography. It was a Polaroid camera and I thought it was the absolute coolest thing. Fast forward to many Polaroid photos later, while in eighth grade I took a photography class where we made our own cameras out of oatmeal containers and I loved it! It was my first time developing images myself and the pull of being a photographer grew. Fast forward to college where I would spend countless hours in the darkroom, losing track of time while developing black and white film and perfecting the art of using an enlarger with my beloved Ilford paper and my used Minolta.
Ever since, my camera has been my constant companion, along with my husband, kids and dogs :) Though film holds a special place in my heart, I've loved the digital revolution with photography and imaging. Pushing my Nikon camera to the limits of what it can do to capture an image in an artistic way, brings me joy. Then spending hours with Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop to bring out my vision of each photograph. The later feels much like being back in the darkroom, except the magic happens on my computer screen rather than with an enlarger and chemicals.
These days nature is my refuge. Whether watching a sunrise or sunset or at the wildlife refuge or my own backyard, the beauty of nature never ceases to amaze me. City life is cool, but getting outside, slowing down your pace of life and breathing it all in is what truly makes me happy. My hope is to bring that to you through photography. When you see an image that can stop you for just a moment, remind you to breathe and transport you to somewhere serene - then I've done my job.
